Final Machining Castings

Project Objectives

With specialist knowledge in precision machining, the JRM team were asked to process a batch of investment cast, stainless steel EGR pipes, for a European motorsport application. In order to achieve the target specification, simultaneous 5 axis operations were recommended and would then be verified with final inspection.

JRM Actions

JRM were provided with early cast samples which were used to plan work holding and fixturing. The final fixture was modelled, designed, and produced completely in-house by JRM. This allowed access to tight areas where the diameters were challenging to machine and the surface finish was critical to support the required gas flow. Upon sign off from the customer, a batch of 25 EGR pipes were completed, part marked and supplied with inspection reports to ISO 2768mK.
